Bruce Isaacs is a Senior lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Sydney and Director of the University’s Film Studies Program. Specialising in all areas of cinema, his interest in film-related topics is broad.
In 2013 and 2015, Bruce was awarded the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Teaching Award (Excellence in Teaching Design and Practice), and in 2016 he received the SUPRA Supervisor of the Year Award. Most recently, he worked on the Film Advisory Panel at the Sydney Film Festival.
Bruce’s main research interests include: Film Aesthetics; American Cinema: Classical Hollywood/Hollywood Renaissance; Digital Cinema and Aesthetics: ‘Future Cinema’; and Film Production Practice – with a focus on screenwriting as a literary and cinematic form.

I have taught French in a number of Schools in Australia and overseas, namely a French college in Kenya (College Denis Diderot: taught French in Primary School and Mathematics in High School).

I have been involved in assisting student teachers through Macquarie University’s Teacher Education Program.

I have been extensively involved in marking HSC French and have a sound knowledge of New South Wales Board of Studies requirements for the language at all stages. I have also attended various educational French courses and workshops (in France, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Australia).
I have a passionate interest in contributing to the life of my students, through communicating French language and culture.
Cathy Jackson

Cathy is a dedicated professional with over 30 years of experience in delivering training in Microsoft applications. Her extensive background includes working with clients from various sectors, including public, private, and not-for-profit. She has worked with individuals ranging from beginners to advanced users and has developed a large variety of course materials during that time.
One of Cathy's notable achievements is her 20-year tenure in TAFE, NSW, where she worked and managed an Information Technology Section, as well as having extensive experience in project management. During her time at TAFE, she also facilitated Workplace Training and Assessment course units, helping numerous clients gain positions in their chosen field in the IT industry. This experience showcases her commitment to helping learners achieve their career goals.
Cathy's journey as a trainer and her continuous commitment to lifelong learning have provided her with valuable insights into delivering effective training to adult audiences. Her vision is clear: she aims to assist all learners in achieving their educational goals by leveraging her technical knowledge, skills, and dedication within a high-quality learning environment.
Toshiko Jackson

Toshiko Jackson has been teaching Japanese since 1983 and has taught at a number of primary, secondary and tertiary institutions throughout Sydney and Melbourne. These include the University of Sydney (Dept of Japanese Studies), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Holmesglen Institute of TAFE (Dept of LOTE as the Dept Coordinator & Course Coordinator of the Japanese Certficate IV for 7 years), the National Languages & Literacy Institute of Australia, Sydney Language Solutions, JALPAK, Sony, and Sumitomo Chemical. Toshiko is also the current editor and presenter of a Japanese language video program designed for travellers to Japan, available via the Learning Fever website.
Toshiko has worked as an interpretor and translator for the corporate sector, undertaken market research on international tourism at Sydney Airport, and delivered workshops for HSC students. She has also previously appeared on SBS television “World News” to speak about Japanese calligraphy at Sydney Language Solutions.
Toshiko’s quallifications include a B.A. in Arts from Seisen University in Tokyo, Diploma in Education from La Trobe University Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Japanese Applied Linguistics and Graduate Diploma in Linguistics from Monash University and M.A. in Asian Studies from Monash Asia Institute.
Toshiko has also taught the art of Japanese flower arrangement (Ikenobo school) in Japan. Her hobbies include the cinema (she loves powerful, intelligent and universally meaningful movies), academic study, the gym (especially body combat) and singing.
