Cancellations, transfers and refunds

What is your cancellation, transfer and refund policy?

Please refer to the webpage for our full terms and conditions.

Refunds are only given:

  • within 24 hours of initial enrolment
  • if a course is cancelled by us
  • if we are legally required to do so (for e.g. if course content changes and is different to what was advertised at the point of enrolment).

Transfers and credits

  • Once you are enrolled in a course, you can transfer to another date, or withdraw and hold credit – but this has to be done more than five days before the course starts.
  • If you want to withdraw from a course, or transfer to another date within five days of the course starting, we require a medical certificate and will charge a transfer fee equivalent to 25% of the course cost.

If my course gets cancelled, can I claim a refund?

Yes. You will receive an email notifying you that the course has been cancelled and you will automatically receive a credit note. You need to email, chat or phone us to have this converted to a refund.

Do you give refunds?

We only give refunds in the following circumstances:

  • if you cancel within 24 hours of enrolling
  • CCE cancels the class
  • CCE is legally obliged to do so.

Contacting facilitators

I want to contact my teacher, but I can’t find their contact details?

Please note that due to privacy reasons we are unable to provide you with the trainer's contact details. Please get in touch with us and we can contact them on your behalf.

Course completion certificates

Do I get a certificate for completing a CCE course?

We do not provide any type of formal certification. We do provide a statement of completion for course participants that have attended 70% or more of the course they enrolled into. Your statement of completion will be emailed to you (PDF file) after the final session.

I attended a course with CCE before, but I lost my certificate/course materials. Can you please send them to me?

Please get in touch with us.

Course quality

How can I trust the quality of CCE's courses?

All CCE courses are of highest quality. Courses designed by the University’s faculties (such as our project management courses – delivered by the University’s Faculty of Engineering), are approved by the relevant faculty’s Dean. Courses designed by CCE’s facilitators are reviewed by the University’s Board of Interdisciplinary Studies Non-Award Subcommittee (BIS-NASC). BIS-NASC engages University academics, as subject matter experts, to review the content of CCE's courses and to assess the qualifications of our facilitators.

Course sponsorship/ funding

Are there any options for course funding?

Payment support and course funding options are found on our Discounts and course funding page.

Discounts

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. Please visit our Discounts and course funding page for a full list of our fee concessions and promotional discounts.

Enrolling in classes and invoices

How do I secure my spot in a course?

You can enrol and pay online by clicking on the ‘Enrol now’ button next to your chosen class. Alternatively, you can contact the Centre on 8627 6700 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to enrol and pay over the phone.

My employer is paying for my course. Should I still enrol via the website?

If you are making a booking through your employer and would like an invoice made out to your workplace, please get in touch to request an Invoice Authorisation Form.

Face-to-face delivery course information

How many people are in a class?

Generally, between 10-20 people depending on the class.

Is lunch included in my course cost?

Lunch is provided for all courses that are more than five hours long. For information technology courses, a complimentary light lunch is included. For business and management courses, you will visit a restaurant or café close to your course venue.

Classes using your own device

For classes where you are bringing your own device, the University Wi-Fi network is available for free at CCE. Before your class starts, please be aware that some computers’ security settings prevent people from joining the University Wi-Fi network. If you have antivirus software on your device (particularly for PC users), you may need to disable the firewall in order to join the network; please ensure you change any settings before the start of your course to ensure that the class can proceed on time. If you prefer not to change security settings on your device, we recommend using your smartphone’s ‘personal hotspot’ to connect your computer to the internet; please ensure that you have sufficient data to do so.

Getting to CCE

How do I get to CCE?

This will vary depending on where your class is being held. We suggest you wait until a venue has been assigned to your class before checking transport options. Please visit the Getting to CCE page for public transport and parking options.

Language level advice

Do you have placement tests for language courses?

We don't have any placement tests for our language courses, you will need to read the course outlines carefully to determine which level would best suit you. You can also get in touch with us and we will forward your enquiry onto a language convenor. They will then get in touch with you to discuss which level course is suitable for you.

Locations

Where are CCE courses held?

We run classes at various locations including Newtown, Sydney CBD and Westmead. Please refer to the session details listed under each class date for further information.

Where is my upcoming course being held?

Class venues are usually confirmed five business days from a class start date. You will receive a Course Reminder email three business days out from your class start date and it will confirm these details.

Online delivery course information

How will online courses be conducted? Do I need to install special software?

Our online classes are run through a platform called Zoom, which allows for real-time, interactive classes. Facilitators and participants interact through audio and video, and the facilitator shares their screen with the class for the purpose of demonstrations. Zoom also allows for the class to be split into smaller groups, for group work and other activities.
You will need to have specific software pre-installed for some IT courses, for example, Adobe and Microsoft courses. Please read the course outline and all courese communications thoroughly.

When will I receive details on how to access my online class?

Instructions regarding how to connect to online classes will be sent to participants via email, 24-48 hours before the class commences. Please monitor your email inbox around this time. There is no need to do anything before you receive these instructions.

Do I have to complete an online class at the scheduled time? Or can I access the class later on?

Our online classes are taught in an interactive webinar format and participants need to be available at the scheduled time in order to participate in their class.

Parking

Where can I park?

An early bird flat rate of $13 is available at the RPAH Medical Centre Carpark (entry via Elizabeth Street off Carillon Avenue) for vehicles entering between 6am and 10am and exiting between 3pm and 7pm. Please note that you cannot valid any parking tickets at the CCE. For day classes being held at CCE, please visit the Getting to CCE page for public transport and parking options. For classes on weekends, evenings or that are being held on the main campus, please contact the Traffic and Parking Office on 02 9351 3336 or visit the Getting to campus - The University of Sydney web page.

Payment methods

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the following payment methods:

  • MasterCard
  • Visa
  • American Express (for online enrolments only)
  • Cheque – to be made out to ‘The University of Sydney’ (for enrolments by post or in person only)
  • EFTPOS (for enrolments in person at the CCE office only)

Special needs

Are you able to accommodate participants with special needs (eg mobility, dietary requirements, hearing or sight impaired, and more)?

We make every effort to accommodate participants with special needs. For example, dietary requirements will be provided to the caterer, a venue without stairs will be allocated to accommodate mobility issues, and most University venues are equipped with Hearing Loops and Braille signage.

University entry/pathways

Will any of your courses give me entry or pathway into University award courses?

None of our courses provides a pathway to University entry. CCE's courses are short, non-award courses with no accreditation attached (no exams at the end of the classes/training). There is no formal qualification that can be achieved.

Visas

Can I get a student visa from enrolling in a course at CCE?

CCE's courses are short, non-award courses with no accreditation attached (no exams at the end of the classes/training). Our courses are not eligible to support entry into Australia for study or student visas. Once in Australia, everyone including visitors on holiday and temporary residents are welcome to enrol in any of our courses for their own personal development and enjoyment. Visa subclass 500 holders are not legally allowed to take our courses.

Can international students enrol into your courses?

All our courses are open to everyone for enrolment, excluding visa subclass 500 holders.
We acknowledge the tradition of custodianship and law of the Country on which the University of Sydney campuses stand. We pay our respects to those who have cared and continue to care for the Country.
