Tristram Alexander

Resume

Dr Tristram Alexander is an Associate Professor in the School of Physics. He is trained as a theoretical physicist, completing his PhD under Professor Yuri Kivshar at the Nonlinear Physics Centre (ANU) in the area of nonlinear wave dynamics in Bose-Einstein condensations. He continues to work in the field of nonlinear waves, but has broadened his interests to a wide range of nonlinear phenomena, from heat flow to social dynamics.

Marshal Alkouz

Hammam (Marshal) Alkouz is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and dynamic Project, Program, and PMO expert with a successful track record in managing multi-million dollar projects across industries like EPC, Oil & Gas, IT/ERP, Business Transformation, Education, and Government.

With over 5000 hours of Project Management training, Marshal specializes in PMO set-up, Project/Program Management, and Lean Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement. His educational background includes an MBA from the University of Atlanta.

As an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Sydney and UNSW, Marshal teaches courses on Computer Applications in Project Management. He actively contributes as a Trainer & Mentor for PMI-Sydney and a Training Content Author for Certifeka International.

In his professional career, Marshal serves as a Director and Board member at PMI Sydney, an Agile Project/PMO Consultant & Trainer, and has held roles in Program/Project Management and Process Improvement for government and private sector organisations.

Belinda Allen

Belinda is Assistant Principal of Arndell School, a behaviour school specialising in Emotional and Behavioural disorders. Belinda has been a teacher for 18 years and in that time has taught Nursery to Year 6. She taught in Newcastle and Dubbo before moving to the UK for 7 years. While in London, Belinda followed her interest in working with children with severe mental health difficulties. Upon moving back to Sydney in 2007, Belinda found her perfect job, working in a unit for students with Emotional and Behavioural Disorders, side by side with Coral Tree Family Services. During this time, she has been working as a class teacher specialising in behaviour management while continuing to study. Belinda has completed her Masters in Special Education and has trained to be a Marte Meo Therapist for the last four years. She enjoys working with children, staff and families to make home and school a calm, secure and happy place to be.

Christopher Allen

Dr Christopher Allen teaches art history at the National Art School. He has just completed a book on 17th century French art for Thames and Hudson, and is the author of ‘Ovid and art’ in The Cambridge Companion to Ovid, CUP, 2002.

Joe Alvaro

Resume

Joe is a highly experienced Legal Studies teacher. He obtained his Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities) from the University of Sydney. Joe has taught in both government and non government schools in NSW and also has overseas teaching experience in China. He is currently Head of Department (Human Society and its Environment) at a secondary school in Sydney and also teaches Legal Studies there. Joe has coordinated the Law Society of NSW Inter-School Mock Trial Competition in a number of schools he has taught at and has marked the external NSW Higher School Certificate Legal Studies examination. He also sits on the Board of Economics and Business Educators NSW and serves as President of this organisation, as well as on the Board of the Professional Teachers' Council NSW.

Joe is also the author of “Legal Studies – Book A” (User Friendly Resources) and “Legal Studies – Book B” (User Friendly Resources), and co-author of “Exploring Business” (Blake Education). He has written teaching and learning programs for Legal Studies at a school and regional level, designed commercial trial HSC Legal Studies examinations and authored articles for professional journals in the social sciences. Futhermore, he has convened and presented at conferences for teachers of Legal Studies and presented papers at Business Educators Australasia Biennial National Conferences. In 2014 Joe presented a paper titled “Teaching Human Rights Using A Case Study Approach: An Australian Perspective” at the 12th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Education in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served on a Citizens' Police Jury in 2014. The City of Sydney Council, in conjunction with the NSW Government, tasked the jury with the following remit: “How can we ensure we have a vibrant and safe Sydney nightlife?”.

Joe designed and began the HSC Legal Studies Preparation courses at the University of Sydney, and has taught them there since 2011. Many of his students have achieved high final results in Legal Studies over the years, including Band 6 (the highest band) results.

Barbara Anderson

Barbara Anderson is a Master Certified Coach (MCC ) with the International Coach Federation (ICF) and holds a Graduate Certificate in HRM and Coaching from the University of Sydney. Barbara has been training for over 20 years, and coaching for 10years, and has trained hundreds of managers in coaching skills. As a volunteer Barbara sits on the Australasian board of the ICF as the Australian Coach Credential Leader – assisting others gain credentials in coaching, as well as building, supporting and preserving the Integrity of the Coaching Profession.

Barbara has an extensive background in Business, Information Technology, Management, and Training and Development. Over the past 10 years Barbara has worked with a range of corporate and small business clients as a Trainer, Consultant, Facilitator and Coach for their Business and Personal Development. As a trainer and consultant Barbara’s specialised areas include Coaching, (training new coaches, and training Managers as Coaches), Team Building, Leadership Skills, Workplace Trainer, Workplace Assessor, (Certificate 1V); Presentation Skills (Public Speaking), Goal Setting, Time Management and Communication Skills. As a Business and Life Coach Barbara has much to offer from the combination of experiences in her personal and business life.

Barbara has a very personal, interactive and practical approach to facilitation. She uses experiential learning and adult learning principals, which ensures participants can apply new skills, knowledge and behaviours to the workplace and life.
