Chris Carter has a BA (Hons) from the ANU and a Masters degree specialising in social and domestic archaeological sites in NSW. He has extensive teaching experience at tertiary level as a tutor and lecturer in the field of archaeology and has also presented of a number of adult education courses for the Centre for Continuing Studies at the ANU. In his “spare” time Chris organises and leads archaeological study tours to Spain and South America.

Jenny Cartwright

In 2007, Jenny wrote the publication “Don't Get Hung Up!” (How to Sell Products and Services by Phone) and also co-authored “Secrets of Top Sales Professionals”. Following a successful career in face-to-face selling as National Sales and Marketing Manager of Telford Hotels and International Sales Manager for Centralian Holidays, Jenny changed her focus to telephone selling.

From 1991 to 1997, Jenny was awarded top salesperson for her telemarketing promotion of Tom Hopkins and Anthony Robbins seminars on four of their visits to Australia, and then promoted Zig Ziglar, Jim Rohn and Brian Tracy. In 1998 Jenny completed Train the Trainer and Certificate 1V in Training and Assessment to become an accredited trainer, and has since trained over 70,000 people. Jenny conducts in-house customised sales, telesales and customer service training for companies and individuals all around Australia. She also coaches salespeople one-on-one, consults to companies who are looking for more sales and speaks at conferences.

Jenny was President of Pioneer Business SWAP 2006 – 2007 (Salespeople with a Purpose) and was awarded “National Salesperson of the Year” by the Business SWAP organization in 1993, “National Business SWAP of the Year” in 1996 and 2004, and “Telemarketer of the Year” in 1995. She received her Diploma in Languages for Business in 1971, graduated as a business coach through Coach-U in 1998 and is a Certified Speaking Member (CSP) of the Professional Speakers Association (the only internationally recognised designation of professional speakers). Jenny is passionate about teaching sales people how to become top achievers.

Susana Catalina Prat

Susana is an experienced native German language teacher who has been teaching for almost 20 years in different countries and different environments. During her studies she has taught French and Spanish in Germany at different language schools and community colleges. Since coming to Australia in 2008, Susana has been teaching and marking languages (Spanish, German, French, Catalan) and intercultural communication for the Berlitz Language School, Macquarie University, the University of Technology (UTS) Sydney, the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

Susana holds a Master’s degree (M.A.) in Spanish, French and Political Science from the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Germany. She is currently also a Primary School Ethics teacher as loves teaching and encourages critical thinking, and enjoys seeing students gaining more skills and knowledge.

Dr Michael Cavanagh has taught secondary mathematics classes for over 20 years and has also been involved in mathematics teacher education for the past 8 years. He has a PhD and MA in mathematics education, a BSc in pure mathematics and a Dip Teach.

Roukaya Borhan Chaaban

Resume

Roukaya is a Palestinian French teacher with over ten years' experience delivering classes to children and adults. Her previous roles include teaching for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees schools (UNRWA) in Lebanon, being an examiner for DALF (A1-B2 levels) at the French Institute of Beirut at the Embassy of France and worked at Alliance Française, Sydney. At present, she is a French facilitator at the University of Sydney.

Roukaya holds a Master 2 degree in FLE, a Bachelor in French Literature and a French Graduate Diploma in Education. When teaching, she employs a variety of teaching methodologies to motivate and encourage students. She is always smiling, dynamic and friendly with her students.

Chantal Chalier

Chantal Chalier (French language convener) holds an MA in Literature and a DEA (doctoral studies) in Political Science from the Université Lumière Lyon 2, France. She has extensive teaching experience in French language and culture gained both in Australia (Macquarie University, ANU, and CCE Sydney University) and overseas. Chantal also has a long standing professional association with television (programming and subtitling) and the cinema industry in Australia.

Pip Chalk

Pip Chalk’s wildlife career began at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo where she worked as a zookeeper for almost twenty years. Pip worked on all Life Sciences Departments with a large variety of exotic, native and domestic animals and has a particular interest in carnivores, particularly big cats.

As Tourism Ambassador for Taronga Zoo during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Pip conducted tours of the zoo for VIP guests including the Prince of Brunei and Bill Allen, Editor-in-Chief National Geographic magazine.

Since then Pip has concentrated on her academic career and research in wildlife tourism and the human/animal relationship. Having travelled extensively through India and Nepal’s national parks, Rocky Mountains NP USA, Pip has seen some amazing wildlife up close. She also authored the NSW Dept. of Environment and Heritage publication 'Wild about Sydney Harbour, A Guide to Experiencing Sydney’s Wildlife' and held the position of Chair, Wildlife Tourism Australia from 2007-2010.

At the University of Western Sydney Pip lectured in Human/Animal Interactions and Introduction to Wildlife Studies and has acted as an Assistant Academic Supervisor for Undergraduate Animal Science Students.

Pip is currently completing her PhD part time titled ‘The Human Dimensions of the Kangaroo in Australia’, a research project that looks at people’s attitudes and values toward the kangaroo and how it is managed.

In 2012 Pip started Panthera International Wildlife Tours, a unique wildlife tourism business that conducts small group tours within Australia and overseas. Panthera also specialises in study tours for TAFE and uni. students undertaking animal science and captive management related subjects.
