Deborah Assheton

Deborah Assheton has experience as a coach and facilitator in the areas of emotional intelligence, developing self-awareness, improving wellbeing, workplace culture and leadership. Her interest in personal development has led her to study both Western psychology and Eastern spiritual traditions over the past 10 years. Currently completing a Master’s degree in Organisational Coaching at the University of Sydney under Dr Tony Grant, Deborah also holds qualifications in psychology and change management. Within the corporate environment, Deborah leads courses and lectures for Australian and International audiences in Emotional Intelligence, effective personal change strategies, developing leadership and coaching skills. Deborah is deeply committed to living every day in alignment with her personal values, believing that each of us is already complete and unique. A deep understanding of personal and spiritual self-development process combined with a direct and practical communication style means Deborah is able to help her participants increase their self-awareness, learning to love both who they are now and understand how to continue their own personal journey.

Born in France, Marine Aubury completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Brest in Brittany before undertaking teacher training and translation courses in London. She has taught French to adults in both general and corporate contexts in London and now works with Macquarie Community College in addition to her work with the University of Sydney, Centre for Continuing Education.

Dorota Augustynowicz

Dorota holds an MA in Polish Philology from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, and a BA in Teaching English from Teacher Training College in Torun. After graduating, Dorota worked as a Polish and English teacher, teaching various age groups (pre-schoolers to adults). She also spent some time in Edinburgh and Melbourne. Dorota has been teaching Polish for Beginners at the Polish School of Sydney in Randwick since 2014.

Dorota believes it is important to continually develop teaching skills, and has therefore participated in a number of conferences, workshops, and webinars on teaching Polish and English. She annually attends the NSW Federation of Community Colleges Conference and Professional Development Day at Sydney University, as well as different forms of professional training organised by the Polish School of Sydney and Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Sydney. In November 2015, she took part in an internship organised by the Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad in Warsaw, together with an international group of teachers.

Farid Awad

Farid Awad has been teaching mathematics since 2005. He has vast experience in secondary education and private tutoring, and extensive knowledge of all Stage 6 Mathematics courses for the Higher School Certificate. Farid is currently the Mathematics Curriculum Head of Department at a Sydney High School which aims to strengthen students’ mathematical understanding for their future endeavours.

Farid holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Mathematics, and a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree with a first-class Honours Thesis from the University of Sydney.

Farid has experience as both a facilitator of student workshops and presenter of professional learning for staff. He has led HSC study days, presented to teachers on innovative mathematics practices, and made sustainable changes to the teaching and learning of mathematics to facilitate student engagement.

At the core of Farid’s teaching is a joy and commitment to student impact and the desire to build passion around the language, logic, and appreciation of mathematics.

Jeff Ayling

Jeff first learned to write code on an Apple IIe computer as a child in the 1970’s and is proficient coding in multiple languages, databases, platforms and technologies. Jeff has worked with companies such as Microsoft where he developed a Java implementation of their Passport technology which he later sold to Verizon in the US, Telstra, Solution6, Westfield and many other companies developing e-commerce and web based booking solutions, Jeff also won the Best Packaged E-Commerce Solution award for developing the first cross platform realtime credit card processing software for merchant websites. Jeff has developed and consulted on numerous games and receives monthly royalties from Apple for games in the Apple Mac App Store.

Ehsan Azari

Ehsan Azari, an internationally acknowledge academic and fiction and non-fiction writer, has an MA (1st Class) in English literature and linguistics and a PhD in English Literature from Macquarie University (the department of Critical and Cultural Studies). He taught at Macquarie University and lectured in creative writing in Australia and overseas. He is the author of Lacan and the Destiny of Literature: Shakespeare, Donne, Joyce and Ashbery, Continuum, 2009. Dr Azari frequently writes for the Australian and international media on a wide-range of topics. He currently holds a position as an Adjunct Fellow with the Writing & Society Research Group, at the University of Western Sydney (UWS). He also writes and broadcasts a radio program, Knowledge in the Air, with 2BACR 100.9 FM.

Dr Azari has also taught Anthropology and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University and UWS, and has carried out a number of ethnographic research projects on Eastern-Western Mystical traditions. He published his findings on Sufism in light of Lévi-Strauss' structuralist Anthropology. Dr Azari has also lectured on ‘Theosophy and Anthropology’, and ‘Jung and Anthropology’. Additional, he has also done research on the shifting cultural patterns in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. His research interests include: kinship and social organisation among Australian migrant communities, anthropological interpretation of the New Age Movement, and theosophy in Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

Sandra Bacchi

Sandra Bacchi has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Education from Concordia University,Montreal-Canada and a Master of Teaching from University of Western Sydney.Sandra is currently a primary school teacher in a bilingual primary school in northern Sydney.Sandra has extensive teaching experience and she has worked in various languages schools in Sydney including the University of New South Wales at the school of languages and linguistics.

Neerja Badhwar

Neerja Badhwar has taught Hindi to adults, young children and as an HSC 2-Unit Hindi subject for seven years during her time at Bal Bharti Hindi School in Thornleigh. She has also been teaching Hindi for the last sixteen years at a local community school on Sundays during school terms and has read for a literary program on a local Hindi Radio Station for the past five years. Neerja is the editor and publisher of an Indian newspaper called The Indian Down Under in Sydney which publishes a page in Hindi regularly.

Amela Bajric

Amela Bajric holds two Master Degrees in Translation and Interpreting Studies. She has worked as a foreign language teacher for many years teaching adults and children. She currently teaches at the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Sydney and at Sydney Language Solutions.
