Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course will expand on the topics covered in French 101 and 102 (or equivalent). Your skills will be further developed through various class activities. This course focuses on topics such as hobbies, jobs and family. Grammatical and phonological elements are introduced as you work on your French speaking, oral comprehension, reading and writing skills.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • talk about leisure activities
  • attend a doctor’s appointment and explain what’s wrong
  • state the time of day and day of the week
  • talk about your daily routine
  • talk about your day at work
  • get information about outings, talk about outings
  • make arrangements to meet friends
  • propose/accept an invitation out

  • talk about recent experiences or projects.

Intended audience

Suitable for A1 level students, those who have completed all levels of French up to 102, or who have completed 45 hours of recent tuition.
